Alt Rock Beer launch party!

Alt_Rock_Beer_promo_photo_3049_webWe’re throwing a launch party for our next special release that we call “Alt Rock Beer”. It’s a collaboration between Great North Aleworks and the Rock On Foundation to help promote their summer Rock On Fest*. Stop by the Great North Aleworks tasting room on Thursday, July 21st and be among the first to taste this new draft only beer. We’ll have it available by the sampler, pint, and growler.

Alt Rock Beer is a copper colored, German style ale brewed with classic Hallertauer hops and Pilsner malt. It’s fermented at cooler temperatures resulting in a clean, smooth beer that is well balanced. Alt Rock Beer is sessionable, yet satisfying, and comes in at 4.8% abv.

Not only are we releasing a new beer, but it’s also our next “Raise a Glass & Cash” fundraiser night . We’ll be donating $1 for every pint, flight, growler fill, and 6-pack sold to who else but the Rock On Foundation. If that’s not enough, we’ll also have our first ever live music in the tasting room with a performance from Badfellows.

The tasting room will open at 3 p.m. as usual, but the party will officially begin at 6 p.m. We’ll be staying open an hour later till 8 p.m. Tell your friends and get down to the brewery, because this is going to be a great time!

Can’t make it to the launch party but want to try the beer? No problem! It will be available in our tasting room by the sampler, pint, or grower for a couple of weeks. You’ll also find it on tap at bars and restaurants around the greater Concord area and beyond. We’ll keep a list of places here.

*Rock On Fest is a free event held at White Park in Concord on Saturday, August 13th that includes music, yoga in the park, high school hoops, family fun, local vendors and fireworks. The music line-up includes Born Ruffians, Saintseneca, Jason Anderson, Dirty Bangs, The Snaz and Skinny Bones. Come one, come all!

Leaping into March!

March

We hope everyone enjoyed the extra day in February this year and are looking forward to March, the arrival of Spring, and Daylight Savings. Just a few updates from us as we start out the month…

FirkinFriday

March 4th – Firkin Friday

Our past few cask tappings were made possible with the generous loan of a pin (5.4 gallon cask) from Rob at The Coat of Arms in Portsmouth. While that cask is back with its owner (thanks again Rob!), we now have our very own firkins (10.8 gallon cask) and will be tapping one this Friday at 3:00 pm sharp. For this release, we decided to have some fun with our IPA, dry hopping it directly in the cask with 3 new U.S. hop varieties – Cashmere, Triple Pearl, and Tahoma – along with a healthy dose of sweet orange peel. This special cask of IPA will be available in the tasting room by 4 oz sample and pints (sorry, no growler fills). How long it will last is anyone’s guess!

Clover

St. Patrick’s Day

It may not be the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, we’ll have $1 off pints in the tasting room. It’s a Thursday, so we will be open our regular hours, 3:00-7:00 pm. Sláinte!

NHCraftBeerWeekNew Hampshire Craft Beer Week

Mark your calendars, April 2nd-10th will be New Hampshire Craft Beer Week! Breweries across the state will be planning events and releases in celebration of New Hampshire’s dynamic, delicious craft beer. We are currently working out the details of what Great North Aleworks will do to celebrate, so stay tuned!

From Manchester with Love…

Joe_Ryan_kegs

February is already upon us, and with that brings a few updates from Great North Aleworks. If you’d like to hear about a new release this week, tasting room hours for Superbowl Sunday, cask updates, Ice Fest, and a delicious five course beer dinner, then read on…

Special Releases

We have a couple special releases planned in the next couple of weeks at our tasting room…

RyanFriday, February 5th – Moher Hops

We’ll be unveiling the first Great North beer designed and brewed by our Assistant Brewer, Ryan Moher. “Moher Hops” (get it?) is a big American IPA clocking in at 7.65% ABV. Using a blend of both old-school (Cascade) and new-school (Citra and Simcoe) hops, Ryan created a delicious, aromatic, and sneaky smooth IPA. This batch was brewed on the SBS (a.k.a “small brew system”) so we have a limited amount that will be available in the tasting room in 4 oz samples and pints only. Come in for a taste and let us know what you think!

Ryan_John_caskFriday, February 12th – Cask Tapping

Thanks to everyone who came out for our first cask tapping on Jan 22nd. We were humbled to see the cask of Chocolate Milk Stout with cold brewed coffee from Wayfarer Coffee Roasters disappear in less than 2 hours! We had such a fun time that we decided to fill the cask again. This time we started with RP-no-V (that’s what we call RVP without the vanilla) and aged it on rye whiskey oak. We’ll be tapping this cask on Friday, Feb 11th at 3:00 pm, and once it’s gone, it’s gone!

footballSuperbowl Sunday

For your game day needs, the tasting room will be open from 1:00 – 5:00 on Sunday, February 7th. Come on by and relax a little before the game & get a growler fill or 6 pack to go!

Beveridge Craft BeerBeveridege Ice Fest

Great North Aleworks is thrilled to be participating in the 2nd Annual Beveridge Ice Fest on February 13th from Noon to 3:00 in support of End 68 Hours of Hunger. Ryan and Joseph will be out on the ice pouring our brews along with 36 other breweries. Swing by our table and grab one of our beanies for the special price of $10 and keep your head warm. Buy your tickets for the fest here.

You’ll also start to find it on tap at restaurants and bars throughout New Hampshire.

At the tasting room we have the Nitro version available by the sample glass or pint, as well as the carbonated version best suited for growler fills.

JosephRaise a Glass & Cash!
